ROMERO BRITTO (Born: 1963 Brazil)

Born in Brazil in 1963, Britto as a young child began painting on bits of cardboard and newspapers. His supportive family encouraged his developing artistic talents and provided art books for him to study early on. In his young teens, Britto received honors at his first public exhibition by the Organization of American States. Later Britto would travel to Europe and found success at one-man shows in both Germany and England. However, intrigued by the works of American Pop Artists, and popular culture brought Britto to the United States. Britto settled in Miami, Florida in the late 1980?s. Here, the diverse cultural environment and tropical beauty reminded him of his native Brazil.

The distinctive neo-pop style of Romero Britto has made a significant impression on the world of art. Britto is sometimes compared to Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and other contemporaries. He often combines the artistic techniques of Pop Art with the intricate compositional qualities of Cubism. Britto's work while being very modern is inspired by the primitive ideas of the early modern masters combined with the approach of his pop contemporaries. Simultaneously infused in his work are the tropical and exotic flavors of rhythm and culture of his native Brazilian motherland.

His works exude a vibrancy and positive energy utilizing a strong exciting command of shapes, color, form and texture. Romero's works brilliantly incorporate an exuberance of masterful colors using dynamic primary color combinations. Britto has several important commissions and has produced original works for numerous celebrities, including Arnold Schwartzenegger and Whitney Houston.
